MORRIS, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team competed in a nonconference triangular on Saturday evening at the University of Minnesota-Morris, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Superior 3-1 while falling to the host Cougars 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UW-SUPERIOR
• The Auggies started out slow against the Yellowjackets, dropping a close first set, hitting at only .148. Augsburg answered back in dominant fashion, winning the next three straight sets to claim the victory. As a team, the Auggies hit at an impressive .357 clip for the match, with three players tallying double-digit kills.
• Middle blocker
Corrina Evans (SO, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) had a season-best 17 kills and hit at a remarkable .517 clip. Evans also led Augsburg with seven blocks (six assists, one solo).

Megan Quam (JR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) andÂ
Sydnie Zachary (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) added 11 kills each. Quam hit .588. Zachary had a match-best 17 digs, which is her fifth kill-dig double-double of the season.Â

Morgan Malley (SR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) posted a season-high 48 assists, adding 11 digs, seven kills, three block assists and two service aces.Â

Jade Boysen (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) andÂ
Kayla Gjerde (FY, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) added eight kills each. Boysen also had four blocks (three assists, one solo), while Gjerde had four digs, four block assists and two aces.Â
• Ciashia "Cookii" Shiongyaj (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) chipped in 11 digs and two service aces.Â
FOR THE FOES (UW-SUPERIOR)
• The Yellowjackets were led by Taylor Howe, with 17 kills.Â
• Setter Emily VerWay had 42 assists, eight digs, two block assists and a kill.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST UM-MORRIS
• Despite out-hitting the Cougars .277 to .274, the Auggies were unable to hold off multiple-point runs and 11 service aces, dropping a tough 3-0 loss. It is the first time this season Augsburg has lost when hitting better than .200.Â
• Gjerde paced the Auggie offense with 11 kills, hitting at a .579 clip. She also contributed three digs and two block assists.Â
• Evans notched eight kills and three blocks (two assists, one solo), while Boysen had six kills and three block assists.Â
• Setter Malley ended with 30 assists, also adding seven digs and two kills.Â

Macey Terhell (SR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) had a team-best 15 digs, while
Stephanie Hechsel (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) chipped in 11 digs and a service ace.Â
FOR THE FOES (UM-MORRIS)
• Brenna Tinjum and Rachel Mathias led the Cougars with 13 and 10 kills respectively. Tinjum also had three service aces.
• Layne Herrmann notched 31 assists, six digs and five kills. Tori Everson had 17 digs, nine kills and three aces; while Alyssa Ukestad had 13 digs and two service aces.Â
