Auggies rally back from 7-1 deficit, but fall to Carthage

MINNEAPOLIS -- Izzy Snow (JR, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) scored five goals to lead Augsburg University, as the Auggies rallied back from an early 7-1 deficit to Carthage College, but the Auggies fell 11-10 in a nonconference women's lacrosse game on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Carthage built a 7-1 lead over the first 15:48 of play, but Augsburg scored nine of the next 11 goals, including six in a row, to take a 10-9 lead with 15:52 left in the game. Carthage then scored three consecutive goals to take the lead back for good.
• Snow scored five goals, including four free-position markers, to lead the Auggies. She also had two caused turnovers, four draw controls and three ground balls.
Helena Nguyen (SR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) scored three goals for the Auggies, with two free-position scores.
• Delaney Everett (SR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) scored a goal, while contributing six draw controls, nine ground balls and four caused turnovers. Christina Nelson (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS)  scored a goal with seven caused turnovers and five ground balls. Tehya Reinbold (FY, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) scored a goal.
Mikayla Knudson (SO, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) and Allie Tuccitto (FY, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) each had assists. Knudson had five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Citlaly Escobar (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) had four caused turnovers and four ground balls.
• Goalie Marissa Guillou (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS), in relief of starter Maddie Seykora (FY, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS), had 10 saves, two caused turnovers and two ground balls in 44 minutes.
• Carthage and Augsburg had 30 shots apiece. Augsburg had 39 ground balls to Carthage's 32, while the Auggies had 13 draw controls to Carthage's 12. Augsburg converted 20-of-31 clearing attempts, compared to 18-of-29 for Carthage.

FOR THE FOES
• Jessie Gibson scored six goals with nine draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls to lead Carthage, while Rachel Mussell scored twice with an assist, and Kendall Santin scored two goals, both free-position markers.
• Maggie Allen had 13 saves in goal for Carthage.
