MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University baseball team scored a split of the University of St. Thomas in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday, dropping the opener 9-0 before winning the second game 5-2.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg had six hits and four walks in the game, but stranded 11 runners on-base against three St. Thomas pitchers.

Mike Brookshaw (JR, Prescott, Wis./Prescott HS) and
Keane Turner (SR, Clinton, Minn./Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley HS) had two hits each for the Auggies, with
Ryan Masui (JR, Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and
Donovan Tomony (SO, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) collecting the other Auggie hits.
• Three Auggie pitchers worked in the game, with
Charles Linder (JR, Harris, Minn./North Branch HS) starting and pitching six innings with a strikeout.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Making his first start in the second pitching appearance of his college career,
Mathew Nicklay (FY, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) pitched a complete-game victory, striking out two while walking four and allowing just four hits in seven innings. He stranded seven St. Thomas runners on-base in the game.
• Augsburg scored three runs in the second inning. The Auggies loaded the bases on a Turner single,
Clayton Bodine (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) double and a Masui walk, and Turner and Bodine scored on a two-run single by
Cam Erikson (SR, Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva HS). Masui then scored on an RBI single by
Dylan Foote (SO, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS).
• The Auggies plated another run in the third, as Masui singled home Brookshaw, and added another run in the sixth, as Erikson reached base on an error and scored on a groundout by
Zach Bakko (SR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS).
• Bodine went 3-for-3 with a run scored for the Auggies, while Turner had two hits.
FOR THE FOES
• Ryan Lust had two hits and an RBI in each game for St. Thomas.
• Jake Smith had three hits in the first game, scoring twice and driving in a run.
• Sam Cobbs hit a two-run homer and a run-scoring double in the first game.
