MINNEAPOLIS -- Pitcher
Samantha Anderson (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) reached a career milestone, eclipsing the 400-strikeout plateau for her career, as her Augsburg University softball team claimed an important Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Hamline University on Sunday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With three strikeouts in the first game and two in the second game, Anderson now has 401 career strikeouts, a school record. She pitched 14.1 innings and threw 202 pitches -- 133 strikes -- in Sunday's doubleheader.
• Anderson has now reached the 100 mark in season strikeouts in each of her three years -- a school-record 157 in 2016, 139 in 2017 and 105 this season.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Relieving starter
Morgan Malley (JR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) in the first inning, Anderson pitched 7.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three while not walking a batter and allowing six hits.
• The Auggies tied the game in the fifth inning, with Malley bringing in
Anesia King (SO, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) and
Nell Gehrke (SO, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) on a two-run double.
• In the eighth, Malley,
Jacquline Nichols (JR, Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS) and
Taylor Mattice (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Centennial HS) singled,
Shannon Dale (SO, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) singled home Malley and Gehrke drove in Nichols on a groundout.
• Malley, Nichols and Gehrke had two hits each for the Auggies, and King hit a triple.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg scored a run in the first inning on an RBI base hit to bring home
Carly Dropik (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS).
• The Auggies sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs in the second inning. Anderson hit a two-run single, then came home with Malley following a fielding error, and Nichols hit an RBI single.
• After Hamline cut the lead to 6-5 in the sixth inning, the Auggies scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh, as Malley hit a single to center that brought home Dropik, along with King following a throwing error.
• Anderson went 3-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Auggies, while Dropik had two hits and scored two runs. King also scored two runs.
FOR THE FOES
• Aubree Douglas, the MIAC's hitting leader with a .479 batting average, went 6-for-8 with three RBI, a double and a run scored in the doubleheader.
• Alex Molloy had seven strikeouts against one walk in an eight-inning complete-game effort in the first game.
