Al-Hameed reaches century mark for Auggies

MINNEAPOLIS -- Quran Al-Hameed (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) rushed for a season-high 146 yards for Augsburg University, scoring two touchdowns in the Auggies' 59-27 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football loss to Gustavus Adolphus College at Edor Nelson Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Al-Hameed rushed for 146 yards on 17 carries, scoring on a 19-yard run in the first quarter and on a nine-yard run in the third quarter. He also caught two passes for 17 yards and returned three kickoffs for 24 yards in the game.
• Augsburg put together its second-best offensive effort of the season, gaining 432 yards on 75 plays, but Gustavus scored on its first six drives of the game, building a 42-21 halftime advantage that the Auggies could not overcome. Gustavus gained a total of 501 yards of offense in the game -- 317 yards passing and 184 yards rushing.
• Quarterback Quinn Frisell (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) completed 23-of-40 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns, a 20-yarder to Zach Kes (JR, Jordan, Minn./Jordan HS) on the Auggies' opening drive of the game, and a 12-yarder to Mike Rodriguez (JR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) in the second quarter.
• Kes led the Auggies with 68 receiving yards on five catches, while Nate Herber (SO, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) caught six passes for 61 yards. 
• Derek Glynn (SR, Lonsdale, Minn./Faribault HS) had 12 tackles (five solo), a tackle for loss and an interception to lead the Auggie defense, marking his seventh game this season with double-digit tackle totals. Collin Feld (SR, Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo HS), had nine tackles (four solo), Hunter Bradford (FY, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) had seven tackles (five solo) and Lorenzo Hernandez (SR, New Ulm, Minn./New Ulm HS) had six tackles (three solo).

FOR THE FOES
• Gustavus quarterback Michael Veldman completed 19-of-23 passes for 317 yards and seven touchdowns -- four to Josh Kirk, who caught six passes for 169 yards. Brayton Finch caught seven passes for 62 yards and two scores, and Brice Panning caught three passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.
• David Peal rushed 21 times for 171 yards and a touchdown.
• Austin Fest had nine tackles (one solo) and Jake Boykin had eight tackles (three solo) to lead the Gustie defense.

• Augsburg is idle next weekend, and returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. with a game at Bethel.
