ST. PAUL, Minn. -- An outstanding season for the Augsburg University volleyball team came to a close, as the Auggies fell 3-2 to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in first-round NCAA Division III national tournament action on Thursday evening at University of St. Thomas.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: UW-Stevens Point def. Augsburg 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 25-22, 16-14)

RECORDS: Augsburg 23-7 overall, UW-Stevens Point 28-8 overall
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both Augsburg and UW-Stevens Point put together strong efforts, in a match that easily could have tipped in the Auggies' favor. However, the Auggies were unable to earn the deciding fifth-set victory, falling to the Pointers 3-2.
• Middle blocker
Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) posted her career-best kill effort with 20, hitting at an impressive .543 clip, with only one error on 35 attempts. Evans added seven digs, four assists and four blocks (one solo).

Jade Boysen (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) finished with 17 kills, also earning her career-best kill total, while adding two block assists.
Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had 20 digs and 14 kills, finishing the season with 12 kill-dig double-doubles.

Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) collected 20 digs and eight kills for the Auggies, also adding three block assists.

Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) had 36 assists, 17 digs and three service aces.
Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) tallied 23 assists and 19 digs. Barr finished the year with 13 assist-dig double-doubles, while Lang had 10.

Jade Fullerton (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) earned team-best four block assists, also adding four kills, two digs and two assists.
• In their final collegiate matches as Auggies,
Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) finished with seven kills and two block assists, while
Jaelin Rios (SR, Champlin Park, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) picked up 12 digs and a pair of assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• This was the second consecutive and fourth overall NCAA tournament appearance for the Auggies under the direction of Head Coach
Jane Becker, and Augsburg's fifth in program history.
• The 2019 campaign marked Augsburg's 12th straight season with 16 or more victories, and the 14th time in program history with 20-plus victories.
FOR THE FOES
• The Pointer offense was led by two players in double figures -- April Gehl posted 20 kills, while Megan Lau finished with 15.
• Ellie Adams earned match-best 51 assists, Emma Peterson finished with 19 digs and Hailey Jarr had five block assists.
