Auggies blank Oles behind 49-shot effort

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Behind a season-high 49-shot effort and a goal in each period, the Augsburg University women's hockey team claimed a 3-0 victory over host St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was relentless throughout the game, outshooting St. Olaf by a 49-11 margin -- 16-4 in the first period, 19-4 in the second period and 14-3 in the third period. 
• Mackenzie Molnar (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) scored first for the Auggies, stealing a clearing attempt and sniping a wrist shot from the right circle for her first goal of the season.
• Forty seconds into the second period, Nikki Nightengale (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) gave the Auggies a 2-0 lead, stealing another Ole clearing attempt, eluding a defender and walking in to slide a quick wrister to the net for her first goal of the year.
• The Auggies took a 3-0 lead 3:14 into the third period. A shot from the point by Hollywood Hermanson (SR, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS) was redirected off the post by Jenna Gerold (FY, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), but Katie Flynn (FY, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) found the rebound and snapped it into the goal for her second marker of the season.
• Emily Ach (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) had 11 shots on-goal for the Auggies, while  Flynn had seven shots.
• Goalie Annie Juergens (SR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) earned her ninth collegiate shutout, and fifth in her two seasons as an Auggie, with an 11-save effort.

FOR THE FOES
• Grace Boswell-Healey had 46 saves in goal for St. Olaf.
