Auggies spread the wealth in 5-1 win at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- With nine different players figuring in the scoring and five different players scoring goals, the No. 8-ranked Augsburg University men's hockey team completed a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweep of St. Olaf College with a 5-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jarod Blackowiak (FY, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) and Erik Palmqvist (FY, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) had a goal and an assist each to lead the Auggies, who outshot St. Olaf by a 39-22 margin in the game. 
• Gavin Holland (SO, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with his third goal of the weekend, assisted by Gunnar Goodmanson (JR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) and Palmqvist, at the 14:32 mark of the first period.
• Blackowiak scored his first collegiate goal at the 6:27 mark of the second period, assisted by Charlie Parker (JR, Verona, Wis./Verona HS) and Nick Woodward (SO, Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque HS). It was followed at the 9:25 mark by the first goal of the season by Tommy Carey (JR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS), assisted by Austin Dollimer (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS).
Grant Reichenbacher (FY, Verona, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) gave the Auggies a 4-1 lead with a goal two minutes into the third period, assisted by Dollimer and Blackowiak, and Palmqvist ended the scoring with an empty-net goal with 2:07 left to play.
• Palmqvist had seven shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Holland had five shots.
Jack Robbel (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had 17 saves in 49 minutes of work in goal to pick up the win for the Auggies, with Jon Albers (JR, Blaine, Minn./Centennial HS) recording four saves in 11 minutes of relief.

FOR THE FOES
• Will Dittrich scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal for St. Olaf at the 14:53 mark of the second period.
• Noah Parker had 34 saves in goal for the Oles.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg hosts Aurora (Ill.) on Friday (12/13) at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
• St. Olaf is idle until Jan. 4 at 7 p.m., when it travels to face Hamline in a nonconference game.
