Sam Anderson (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) reached a career milestone, surpassing the 500-strikeout plateau with a 12-strikeout effort in the first game, as her Augsburg University softball team split a nonconference doubleheader with the College of St. Scholastica on Tuesday at Edor Nelson Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Anderson pitched a two-hit gem for her 12th career shutout, striking out 12 while walking one in a complete-game effort -- her eighth double-digit strikeout effort of her career. Anderson, who eclipsed Augsburg's career record for strikeouts last season, now has 503 in her 105-game pitching career.
• Anderson helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double in the first inning and an RBI single in the third inning. The third inning started with a double by
Kate Stehr (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS), who then scored on a sacrifice fly by
Anesia King (JR, Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS).
Sarah Garcia (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) then doubled, and Anderson drove her home with a single.
• Augsburg scored two more runs in the fourth inning, as
Mackenzie Evenson (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) hit her first home run as an Auggie, a solo shot to right field, and King hit a run-scoring triple to plate Garcia. In the sixth inning, Evenson walked, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a single by
Nell Gehrke (JR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS).

Jacquline Nichols (SR, Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS) went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Auggies, and Evenson and Stehr scored two runs.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• St. Scholastica took advantage of five Augsburg errors to claim the victory in the second game, scoring three unearned runs against a pair of Augsburg pitchers. Tied 1-1 after one inning, the Saints scored three runs in the fourth, then added single unearned runs in the fifth and seventh innings to score the win.
• Augsburg scored its lone run and had its lone hit in the first inning, as King led off the frame with her second triple of the day, then scored on a wild pitch.

Elly Strunk (SO, Blooming Prairie, Minn./Blooming Prairie HS) had two strikeouts against two walks and six hits in four innings of pitching for the Auggies, with
Bella Kallas pitching three innings of relief, allowing just two hits and a walk.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Anderson is the ninth pitcher in MIAC history to eclipse the 500-strikeout career plateau. The all-time conference record is held by Janet Nagle of St. Thomas (2003-06), who had 696 career strikeouts. Four pitchers in MIAC history have reached 600 strikeouts in their careers.
FOR THE FOES
• Maggle Schley had both St. Scholastica hits in the first game, and also pitched a complete game, striking out three while walking three.
• Kayla Christopherson went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double in the second game, while Josie Fouree had two RBI and a hit. Hanna Thul scored two runs in the second game.
• Olivia Howe pitched a complete-game win in the second game, striking out four while walking two and allowing just one hit. Howe also had a double at the plate for the Saints.
