ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- The Augsburg University softball team took a lead in each game of its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Bethel University on Wednesday, but the Royals went on big scoring runs to sweep the twinbill, 9-3 and 10-4.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg scored three runs in the top of the third inning, but Bethel scored nine unanswered runs over the next three innings to claim the victory.

Jacquline Nichols (SR, Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS), and
Kate Stehr (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) hit a two-run single, scoring
Sam Anderson (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) and Evenson, to account for Augsburg's runs in the third frame.
• Anderson struck out five in a complete-game pitching effort for the Auggies.

Nell Gehrke (JR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) in the first inning. But Bethel scored three runs in the bottom of the first and seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.
• Bethel took advantage of four Augsburg errors in the game, with six of its 10 runs unearned against Augsburg pitchers
Bella Kallas (SO, Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) andÂ
Elly Strunk (SO, Blooming Prairie, Minn./Blooming Prairie HS). Kallas started and had two strikeouts in 3.1 innings, while Strunk had two strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief.
• The Auggies scored twice in the fifth, as Evenson hit a two-run single to plate Anderson and Gehrke. In the seventh,Â
Kayla Hanson (FY, Trimont, Minn./St. James HS) doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch, and came home on an RBI groundout by Gehrke.

• Maddie Fauth went 3-for-3 in the first game with two doubles, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, while Amada Gemuenden went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored.
• Allie Fauth went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored in the second game, while Kayla Hokanson went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
• Hannah Schmidt had 10 strikeouts against one walk in the first-game victory, while Calli Maki and Ellie Rogers combined to strike out seven against five walks in the second game.
