Auggie women's soccer opens 2019 with 2-0 win

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Behind a first-half goal from Ashley St. Aubin (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) and a second-half goal from Ana Ortiz (SO, Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus Catholic HS), the Augsburg University women's soccer team opened its 2019 season with a 2-0 nonconference win at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• St. Aubin scored the first goal of the season for the Auggies nine minutes into play, scoring from Gabriela Encarnacion (SR, Bel Air, Md./Bel Air HS).
• Ortiz then put the Auggies ahead 2-0 with a goal three minutes into the second half, an unassisted marker.
• Augsburg claimed a 14-9 advantage in shots, along with a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks. Goalkeeper Emily Chapman (SR, Elburn, Ill./Kaneland HS) had three saves to claim the shutout victory, the 15th of her career.
• St. Aubin had seven shots in the game, while Encarnacion had four shots.

• Augsburg's career scoring leader, St. Aubin now has 54 career goals and 130 career points (22 assists) in 63 games. St. Aubin has scored at least one goal in 41 games in her career, and the Auggies are now 38-2-1 when she scores a goal.
