MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team moved into a three-way tie for third-place in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 92-59 victory over Hamline University on Monday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first 10 minutes of the game found the teams tied at 20 points apiece. Augsburg then put together a 15-3 run over the next five and a half minutes and the Pipers could never recover. The Auggies extended their lead to as many as 35 points in the second half, cruising to their seventh MIAC victory of the season. Augsburg utilized 17 different players in the game, with 12 factoring into the scoring.

Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) nearly recorded a rare triple-double, finishing with 24 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. He was 11-of-18 from the field and added a block and a steal.
• Posting an Auggie career-best,
Joe Palmer (FY, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) finished with 15 points, connecting on 6-of-9 from the field. He added seven rebounds and a steal on the night.

Martin Mitchell (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) did all of his damage for the Auggies from beyond the arc, finishing 4-of-7 from three-point range, while pulling down three rebounds.

Matt Carik (JR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) dished out a game-high five assists, while
James Streeter (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Totino Grace HS) finished 4-of-4 from the field, including an incredible dunk over multiple Hamline players.
• The Auggies had their second-best shooting night of the year, connecting on 57.8 percent (37-of-64) from the field. Hamline was held to 33.3 percent (20-of-60) shooting. Augsburg posted a 40-35 advantage on the boards and a 44-18 advantage in points in the paint.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The Auggies have now won nine in a row over the Pipers and are 14-2 over their last 16 matchups.
• The near triple-double marked the third time this season that Coplin has recorded 10 or more points, six or more rebounds and six or more assists in a game; he had 27 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in a 85-57 win over St. Olaf on Dec. 4, and 23 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in an 86-79 win at Saint Mary's on Jan. 6. He has now accomplished the "10-plus, 6-plus, 6-plus" feat seven times in his three seasons as an Auggie.

• Michael Dillon paced the Pipers with 18 points and seven rebounds.
• Jake Veldman added 15 points for Haline.
