COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- No. 11-ranked Saint John's University used a strong first-half performance to build 19-point lead at the intermission, and it proved too much for visiting Augsburg University to overcome, as the Auggies fell 82-63 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Sexton Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first five minutes were tightly contested and found the teams locked at 14-14. The Johnnies then went on a 9-0 run and were able to extend their lead to 46-27 by the half. Augsburg scored the first five points of the second frame, but was never able to cut the Johnnie lead to single digits in suffering its second conference setback of the season.
• Augsburg was led by a 21-point, 10-rebound effort from
Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS). Coplin finished 7-of-15 from the field and 3-of-7 from three-point range, while adding three steals and a blocked shot prior to fouling out.

Henry Mulligan (SR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) finished with nine points, shooting 3-of-6 from three-point range, while adding four assists.

Matt Carik (JR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) added six rebounds for the Auggies, while
Tyler Kranz (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) tied his season-high with seven points, shooting 3-for-3 from the field.
• For the game, Augsburg was held to a season-low 36.1 percent (22-of-61) shooting from the field, while the Johnnies connected on 47.7 percent (31-of-65) of their shot attempts.
• Augsburg claimed a 22-13 advantage in bench points, but was outscored 36-20 in points in the paint.
FOR THE FOES
• Saint John's had four players finish in double figures, led by a 21-point performance from Oakley Baker.
• Zach Hanson led the Johnnies on the boards, pulling down a team-best nine rebounds, while adding 14 points.
