Coplin scores 30, Auggies fall to Royals

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team fell 83-66 to Bethel University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg led 37-35 at the intermission, but was only able to connect on 10-of-30 in the second half as the Auggies fell to rival Bethel.
Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) paced Augsburg with 30 points, to go along with nine rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot. It's Coplin's fourth game scoring 30 or more points this season.
• Posting his second straight double-digit scoring performance, Jack Sorenson (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) finished with 15 points on a 7-of-14 shooting effort.
• Isaiah Robinson (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) added eight points, shooting 3-of-4 from the field.
• Augsburg shot 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the field, while Bethel connected on 49.1 percent (27-of-55) of its shot attempts.
• Bethel posted a 36-30 advantage on the boards.

FOR THE FOES
• Bethel finished with five players in double figures, led by a 20-point effort from Chandler Wellman.
• The Royals were led on the boards by Granger Kingland, who pulled down nine rebounds to go along with 14 points.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg concludes its regular season on Saturday (2/22) at 1 p.m. hosting Gustavus Adolphus College at Si Melby Hall.
