MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 14-ranked Augsburg University women's basketball team was led by a strong effort from its senior class in a wild 77-74 victory over Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies jumped out to a big 30-15 first quarter lead, but Gustavus was able to shut down the Auggies in the second and third quarters and the Gusties led 60-51 going into the fourth. Gustavus grabbed the opening bucket of the final quarter to go up 12, but the Auggies chipped away and tied the game at 71 points apiece with 3:04 to play. Augsburg scored the next five points to take a 76-71 lead with 17 seconds to go, but Gustavus was fouled from three point range and made all three free throws to cut the Auggie lead to 76-74 with 10 seconds remaining. The Gusties were forced to foul and Augsburg made 1-of-2 to seal the win.
• All five of the Auggie seniors that were dressed played more than 28 minutes in the game and their experience showed down the stretch.Â
Tamira McLemore (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) led Augsburg with a season-high 29 points. McLemore was 10-for-17 from the field and 6-of-10 from three-point range.
• Scoring her 1,000th career point,
Kaezha Wubben (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) finished with 15 points, four rebounds and a steal. Wubben joins teammates McLemore and Speese as one of just nine players in Augsburg women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.

Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) scored 15 points on a 7-of-9 shooting afternoon and pulled down seven rebounds.
• Continuing to show her range,
Aiza Wilson (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) did all of her damage from downtown, connecting on 4-of-11 from three point range.
Arianna Jones (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) tied season-bests in both rebounds and assists, picking up seven of each.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 49.1 percent (26-of-53) from the field, while Gustavus connected on 39.3 percent (24-of-61) of its shot attempts.Â
• Gustavus posted a 39-32 advantage on the boards, but the Auggies claimed a 27-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
FOR THE FOES
• Gustavus was led by a 19-point performance from Caitlin Rorman, who was 7-for-10 from the field.
• Ava Gonsorowski added 16 points and Anna Sanders posted a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double for the Gusties.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the victory, Augsburg set a program record for wins in conference regular season play (17), and is now one win shy of the program record 22 victories set last season.
UP NEXT
• Augsburg earned the No. 2 seed in the MIAC playoffs and will host a home semifinal game on Thursday (2/27) at 7 p.m.
