MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's hockey team's quest for a fifth straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff title came to an end on Saturday evening, as the Auggies were edged 3-2 in a playoff semifinal game at Concordia College-Moorhead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg tied the game with a goal late in the first period, but two Cobber goals in a 1:48 span in the second period gave the hosts the lead to stay. Augsburg cut the lead to 3-2 on a power-play goal midway through the second period, but could get no closer in its season-ending loss.

Gavin Holland (SO, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) tied the game with a goal at the 17:26 mark, as he fired a shot from the right point following a steal of a Concordia clearing attempt.

Tommy Carey (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) assisted on the goal.

Erik Palmqvist (FY, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgynasiet) scored a power-play goal at the 12:55 mark of the first period, walking in from the left point and putting home a shot for his third goal of the year, assisted by
Austin Dollimer (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) and
Jason Krych (SR, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS).
• Concordia outshot Augsburg by a 24-22 margin in the game.

Daniil Gerasimov (JR, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944) had 21 saves in goal for the Auggies.

• Winners of a conference-record four straight MIAC postseason titles, Augsburg was appearing in its sixth straight conference playoff tournament.
