QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG COACH GREG HOLKER
• "This was a great game for us to play against an opponent that plays in a way that we have struggled to deal with -- lots of long throw-ins, set pieces, and chaos in the box. They made us better tonight, for sure."
• "We started slower, as to be expected after a long bus ride, but we started to get on it halfway through the first half and we created some good chances. Their goal was a blow, and of course it came on a corner kick that Spencer tried to clear, but unfortunately it flicked off his head and into the top corner. Just a bit of bad luck there. The second goal was a pain point we have to fix, and that was failing to clear the second ball and giving it away in a dangerous spot. They just beat us to it and poked it in."
• "At the half, the group was feeling OK about our performance. When they scored the third from a big header, we didn't put our heads down. We picked it up and started playing more within our identity, and we had way more fun and created a bunch of good chances. Ruiz scored on the shot/cross, as good things happen when you play in front of the opponent's goal."
• "I thought Oscar was really good again. They had a few moments that created a scare, but he was there to secure it. He saved another penalty -- he's 2-for-2 on those this year. Drew was also really good at covering in front of the box and dealing with issues higher up the field. It was fun to see Marco so confident on the ball again - he was buzzing at the end. Overall, I am walking away feeling good about our growth. Yes, we want to win, but we got what we needed at the right time. Hopefully this carries over and we get even better for Tuesday's game against the best team in the MIAC."
