NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The No. 5-seed Augsburg University volleyball team fell 3-1 to No. 4-seed St. Olaf College in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff quarterfinals on Wednesday evening at the Skoglund Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg came out on top in a tightly contested first set, behind three early kills from
Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) and another two from
Mikayla Coops (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS). St. Olaf took control of the match in the second set, rattling off three straight set wins to advance to the MIAC playoff semifinal match against Gustavus on Friday.
• Gjerde led the Auggies with seven kills in the match, also contributing five digs and four blocks.
Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) added six kills, five blocks, and five digs in the match.

Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) collected a team-high 10 digs in the match and added a kill and a block.
Angel Khang (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) was right behind her with nine digs, three assists, and a service ace.
• Coops and
Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) were also contributors for the Auggies as they each tallied five digs. Coops made the most of her attack opportunities, hitting .417 through all four sets. Boysen also notched six digs and a block in the match.

Jade Fullerton (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS),
Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS), and
Brianna Van Well (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) each contributed three digs for Augsburg. Van Well added three digs and two blocks, Lang tallied 14 assists, three digs, and a service ace, and Fullerton finished with three blocks and two digs. Setter
Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) also got into double digits as she finished with 10 assists.
FOR THE FOES
• Katelyn Lannom and Madison Gully earned 15 and 13 kills for the Oles, respectively.
• Waverly Thao and Brynne Gray tallied 26 and 24 assists, respectively.
