Augsburg completes series sweep of Hamline

MINNEAPOLIS -- Building a 5-0 lead after the first two periods of play, the No. 5-ranked Augsburg University men's hockey team completed a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series sweep of Hamline University with a 5-2 victory on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Five different Auggies scored goals and 10 different players figured in the scoring in Saturday's win, as the Auggies outshot the Pipers by a 39-19 margin.
• Dylan Schneider (FY, Rochester, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal at the 12:13 mark of the first period, scoring from Jared Blackowiak (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) and Austin Koss (SR, Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS).
• The Auggies scored twice in a 44-second span in the final minute of the first period, with Erik Palmqvist (JR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) scoring from Nick Woodward (SR, Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque HS) and Koss at the 19:05 mark, and Austin Martinsen (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) scoring from Patrick O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) and Palmqvist on the power play at the 19:49 mark.
• Grant Reichenbacher (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) put the Auggies ahead by a 4-0 margin with a goal from Woodward 7:56 into the second period, and Logan Kons (SO, Niles, Ill./Niles West HS) finished off the Auggie scoring with a goal from Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) in the final minute of the frame.
• Reichenbacher had five shots on-goal, while Palmqvist and Kons had four shots each.
• Jack Robbel (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had 17 saves in goal to improve to 6-1-0 on the year.

FOR THE FOES
• Isaac Baron scored from Carson Simon at the 12:06 mark of the third period, and Simon scored from Erik Dahl at the 16:11 mark.
• Hamline goalie Bryce Uebel had 34 saves.
