MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University softball team opened its 2021 season with a doubleheader against Edgewood College on Friday evening at Edor Nelson Field, falling by scores of 9-0 and 8-2 to the Eagles.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg was limited to just one hit in the first game, a single by
Olivia Dynneson (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) in the second inning.
• Edgewood scored four runs in both the first and third innings, putting together a 13-hit effort in the win.
• Making her collegiate debut, Auggie pitcher
Olivia O'Connor (FY, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) struck out two while walking three in four innings of work.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, but Edgewood scored all eight of its runs in the top of the sixth, sending 12 batters to the plate and pounding out eight hits.

Katie Manecke (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) led off the Auggie third inning with a single, stole second and scored on an RBI single by O'Connor.
Mackenzie Evenson (SR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) then hit an RBI single to bring home O'Connor.Â

Sabriya Passmore (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) struck out one while walking three in 5.2 innings of work, with
Bella Kallas (Sr, Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) finishing the game in relief.

Olivia Dynneson (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) hit a double for the Auggies, while Passmore and
Kayla Hanson (JR, St. James, Minn./St. James HS) hit singles.
FOR THE FOES
• Hannah Fisher had three hits, including a triple, in the first game, and added a double in the second game. Emily Bloomfield had two hits in each game, scoring three runs.
• Bloomfield pitched a one-hit shutout in the first game, while Grace Pustina and Analiese Glawe combined to pitch the victory in the second game.
