MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University softball team was swept by visiting Carleton College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Carleton jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings, before Augsburg came back in the middle innings to cut the lead to 5-4. Carleton scored three runs in the top of the sixth to pull away to the victory. Just four of the eight runs allowed by the Auggies were earned, as the Knights took advantage of six Augsburg errors. Meanwhile, five Carleton errors led to two of Augsburg's four runs being unearned.

Grace Syson (FY, Oshkosh, Wis./Lourdes Academy HS) reached base on an error in the bottom of the second, moved to second on a walk and to third on a passed ball, then scored on a throwing error following a groundout by
Kayla Hanson (JR, St. James, Minn./St. James HS).

Malia Schubert (FY, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) led off the Auggie fifth inning with a triple, then scored on a groundout byÂ
Katie Manecke (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS).Â
Mackenzie Evenson (SR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) doubled to left,Â
Sabriya Passmore (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) singled, and both scored on a single by
Sara Deming (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and a throwing error.

Olivia O'Connor (FY, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) had two hits for the Auggies, including a double. Evenson and Hanson also hit doubles for the Auggies.
• Passmore started in the pitching circle for the Auggies and threw two innings.Â
Bella Kallas (SR, Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) threw five innings of relief.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Manecke walked to lead off the sixth inning for the Auggies and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Deming, accounting for Augsburg's run in the second game.
• Carleton scored three runs in the first inning, two runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to pull away.
• O'Connor struck out two against three walks in a complete-game pitching performance for Augsburg.
• Schubert had two hits, including a double, in the second game.
FOR THE FOES
• Trina Eichel went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, for Carleton in the first game. Madison Collins went 2-for-4, and Laurie Avila drove in two runs.
• Eichel went 3-for-4 in the second game with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI. Maris Daleo went 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
