MINNEAPOLIS – With both teams needing a win to clinch a spot in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs, the 25
th-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team sunk the College of St. Scholastica in straight sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-11) on Saturday evening to claim the sixth seed in the conference postseason.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set was extremely competitive from the opening serve, with the two teams playing to an 11-11 tie early on. The Auggies put together a run of seven-straight points to open up an 18-11 lead, but the Saints responded with an eight-point run of their own to regain the lead at 19-18. With the Saints leading 23-21, Augsburg claimed four points in a row to win the set 25-23.
• Set two had a similar feel to its predecessor with an 11-11 tie early on. Following a St. Scholastica kill, the Auggies rattled off six consecutive points to open up a 17-12 advantage that they would never surrender. With Augsburg leading 22-14 late, the Saints won four in a row to make things interesting, but the Auggies responded with three-straight kills to finish the set 25-18 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
• The Auggies seemed determined to get off to a better start in set three, jumping out to an early 11-3 lead. The Augsburg lead would never dip below seven as the Auggies cruised to a 25-11 set win to complete the sweep.

Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) was a force all over the court for the Auggies, hitting a match-high .524 and leading both teams with 12 kills and four blocks.

Brianna Van Well (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) finished with eight kills and two digs while
Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) added seven digs and five kills.

Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) was third on the team with six kills while
Angel Vo (SO, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) led the Auggie defensive effort with 11 digs.
Mikayla Coops (Jr, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) finished with a match-high 31 assists and nine digs.
• Augsburg hit .289 as a team with 40 kills and 12 errors on 97 attempts while they held the Saints to a .094 attacking pace with 32 kills and 20 errors on 106 attempts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• The win marked the Auggies' ninth straight over the Saints, a streak that dates back to September of 2010.
• The Auggies have now qualified for the conference tournament 11 times, including the last six seasons in a row.
FOR THE FOES
• Jessica Remer led the Saints with 11 kills and added four digs. Alcia Draper finished with a match-high 13 digs.
