ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's basketball team opened up Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling to Macalester College 72-53 on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The early goings were tightly contested with Augsburg holding a narrow 10-8 lead almost eight minutes into the game. The Scots blew the game open from that point, going on a 20-0 scoring run that put them up 28-10 with five minutes remaining in the half. At halftime, Macalester led 35-21.
• The Scots' lead continued to grow in the second half, ballooning to a game-high 27 at 67-40 as they cruised to the 72-53 win.
• Playing in his second-career game,
Kayser Hasaan (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) led the Auggies with 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
Colin Meade (JR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) was the only other Auggie in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Will Blascziek (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) finished with nine points and eight rebounds while
Conner Knoepfle (SR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) tallied seven points and five rebounds.
Isaac Rabaey (SO, Hastings, Minn.) logged a team-high nine rebounds in the game, including six offensive rebounds.
• Augsburg shot just 19-of-79 (24.1%) while the Scots knocked down 29 of their 61 shots (47.5%).
FOR THE FOES
• Coby Gold led all scorers with 18 points while Caleb Williams was just behind him with 17. Ba Badou logged the game's only double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
