LANSING, Mich. – Augsburg's Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia/GAP School) competed at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Cross Country Championships on a cold, snowy Saturday afternoon in Michigan, placing 168th with a time of 26:27.4.

Bati was the first Augsburg men's cross country runner to compete in the National Championships since Michaele Tesema in 2012 and just the fifth all-time. Bati started the race strong, as he was the second runner in the field to cross the 1-mile mark. When he crossed the finish line, he was 168th in the field of 290 runners with an 8k time of 26:27.4.

Bati finishes his first-year campaign with eight races under his belt, including five individual race victories, Augsburg's first ever individual Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country title with the second-fastest time in conference history, a seventh place finish at the NCAA North Regional Championships, and Augsburg's school-record 8,000-meter time.
