HOW IT HAPPENED
• The teams ended regulation and a five-minute, 3-on-3 overtime tied at 2-2. In the three-round postgame shootout, Augsburg's
Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored the lone goal, with Augsburg goalie
Samuel Vyletelka (SO, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) stopping all three Adrian shots he faced.
• Despite playing a shootout -- newly allowed this year in NCAA nonconference games -- the game officially is recorded as a 2-2, overtime tie.
• Down a pair of skaters on a 5-on-3 power play, Augsburg struck first 1:19 into the second period, as
Fritz Belisle (SR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) stole the puck along the boards in the neutral zone, and sprinted for a shorthanded goal, the first shorthanded marker of his collegiate career.
• Adrian scored twice in a 3:19 span midway through the second period to take a 2-1 lead, which stood until an Augsburg power play with 5:14 left to play, as
Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) scored in front of the net on a rebound off his own shot, assisted by Holland and
Nick Woodward (SR, Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque HS).
• Vyletelka came into the game after starting goalkeeper
Jack Robbel (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) was injured on a charge by an Adrian attacker. Robbel had 28 saves in 43 minutes, while Vyletelka stopped all 13 shots he faced in the third period and overtime.
• Adrian outshot Augsburg by a 43-36 margin, including a 29-11 advantage in the first two periods. Augsbug outshot Adrian by a 22-9 margin in the third period.
