MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's lacrosse team ended its 2022 season with a 22-8 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference loss to the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Friday evening at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg tied its biggest scoring output of the season with its eight-goal effort. The Auggies trailed 12-5 at halftime, despite being outshot by a 25-10 margin in the opening two quarters. Northwestern pulled away in the second half to claim the victory.

Maylynn Prokopec (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) closed her sophomore season
second in the MWLC in overall goals, finishing with 37 on the year with a two-goal effort. She added two ground balls and a caused turnover.

Mackenzie Galazen (FY, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) scored two goals with three draw controls.

Malia Neumann (FY, Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) scored a goal with five draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Shelby Ramirez (FY, Winthrop, Minn./Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS) scored a goal with five draw controls and a caused turnover.
• Two Auggies scored their first collegiate goals on Friday --
Kayla Courtney (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS) and
Beatriz Sandoval (FY, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS).

Rylan Lee (FY, Parker, Colo./Ponderosa HS) had an assist with two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover, and
Alexa Hoffman (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had two ground balls, three caused turnovers and a draw control.
• Emma Maythaler (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had four saves in the final three quarters in goal, along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Lay Reid (FY, West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) had two saves in the first quarter.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The game marked the final collegiate contest for Augsburg's lone senior,
Alex Davis (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS).

• Samantha Weibold scored seven goals with an assist to lead Northwestern, adding two ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
