Second-half goals send Warhawks over Auggies

MINNEAPOLIS -- Jennifer Bobaric (SR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) scored in the 17th minute to give the Augsburg University women's soccer team the lead, but two second-half goals from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gave the visitors a 2-1 nonconference win on Saturday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bobaric scored the opening goal of the game, one-timing home a centering pass from the left wing by Jayla Ponce (SO, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS), completing a give-and-go run at the 16:31 mark.
• UW-Whitewater outshot Augsburg by an 11-7 margin, and had eight corner kicks to Augsburg's one. The Auggies held a 54-to-46-percent possession advantage.
• Ponce and Bobaric had three shots each for Augsburg.
• Iz Shuster (JR, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS) had four saves in goal.

FOR THE FOES
• Emily Thill tied the game for the Warhawks with a goal from 40 yards out in the 47th minute, and Megan Howard, who played her first two seasons at Augsburg before transferring to UW-Whitewater, scored from Thill in the 63rd minute.
• UW-Whitewater goalkeeper Jude Dobrinska had two saves, including a diving stop on a penalty kick attempt by Augsburg's Molly Conners (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) in the 77th minute.
