GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Augsburg University volleyball team wrapped up play in the Southwestern Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of George Fox University on the campus of Southwestern University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bruins held an early 3-2 advantage in the first set, but Augsburg responded with a 5-0 run to take a 7-3 lead. The Bruins managed to cut the deficit to just one on several occasions, but Augsburg never relinquished the lead as they used a late 6-0 run to seal the first-set victory.
• The Auggies once again found themselves trailing late in the second set as George Fox led 17-16. It was all Augsburg from there, however, as the Auggies grabbed nine of the last 10 points to take the set 25-18 and go up 2-0 in the match.
• Tied at 7-7 in the third set, the Bruins took three points in a row to take a 10-7 advantage. Augsburg briefly tied it back up at 15, but George Fox once again regained the lead. Trailing 22-19, the Auggies used a four-point run to recapture the lead and took two of the final three, including a service ace on match point, to secure the sweep.
• Augsburg tallied 39 kills and committed 16 errors on 109 total attempts for a .211 hitting percentage while the Bruins hit .098 with 35 kills and 24 errors on 112 total attempts.

Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) was the only Auggie with double-digit kills as she finished with 13.
Brianna Van Well (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) was second on the team with nine kills while
Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) added eight.
FOR THE FOES
• Bailey LeBreton led the Bruins with 12 kills and Piper Harrop had 14 digs.
UP NEXT
• Augsburg will now head home and prepare to host the Augsburg Invitational where they will play four matches from 9/9-9/10, beginning with a matchup against Minnesota Morris at 2:30 p.m. on Friday (9/9).
