MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University women's basketball team dropped its second consecutive game for the first time this season, falling 74-45 to St. Olaf College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Oles worked their way out to a 16-6 lead through the first five minutes of play, but Augsburg responded with an 11-0 run that made it 17-16 in favor of the Auggies. St. Olaf had the last word with the final two buckets of the quarter, taking a 20-17 lead to the first quarter break. The Oles held the advantage wire-to-wire in the second quarter, leading by seven at the game's halfway point.
• The game got out of hand for Augsburg in the third quarter as St. Olaf continued to grow the lead, culminating in a 48-35 advantage at the final quarter break. The fourth quarter was more of the same as the Oles remained in control en route to the dominant victory.

Jaley Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) and
Anja Smith (JR, Kewaskum, Wis./Saint Mary's Springs HS) each finished with 10 points with Coplin adding four rebounds, two blocks, and a steal and Smith tallying two rebounds and two steals.
Kalena Myers (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) added eight points, four rebounds, and two steals in the game.
• Despite the lopsided score, the Auggies held an 8-4 advantage in second-chance points and narrowly outscored the Oles 15-14 off turnovers.
FOR THE FOES
• Rachel Kelly tied for the game's scoring title with 17 points on 7-10 shooting while Sarah Tangen matched her with 17 points on 6-7 shooting off the Ole bench.

• The Auggies will look to regroup quickly as they prepare to host Saint Mary's University in MIAC play at Si Melby Hall on Monday, January 16 at 7 pm.
