SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Behind five touchdown passes from quarterback
Cade Sheehan (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) and two interceptions by defensive back
Jax Bokman (SO, Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy HS), the Augsburg University football team defeated Hamline University 41-7 on Saturday afternoon in the annual battle for "The Hammer" traveling trophy, retaining it for the fourth-straight season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After an interception by Bokman on Hamline's first drive of the game, Augsburg struck first on their first offensive possession when Sheehan found
Braden Tretter (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) for a 10-yard touchdown pass. Following a punt by the Hamline offense, the Auggies took just three passes before Sheehan connected with Tretter again for a 47-yard touchdown strike to take a 13-0 lead.
• The Pipers would go on to score a touchdown of their own immediately following a blocked punt to make it 13-7, but Augsburg restored its two-possession lead when
Dominic Smith (JR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) hauled in an 11-yard score to take a 20-7 advantage to halftime.
• Augsburg dominated the second half, shutting out the Pipers offense while scoring 21 unanswered points to seal the dominant victory.
• Augsburg outgained the Pipers 416-234 in total offensive yardage, gaining 22 first downs to Hamline's 13.
• Sheehan was outstanding throughout the game, completing 20 of his 28 pass attempts for 227 yards and five touchdown passes. Tretter also had a dominant game, hauling in three touchdown receptions on eight catches for 114 yards. Smith and
Tyrone Wilson (SO, Ellendale, Minn./New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva HS) had one touchdown reception each from Sheehan while
Jordan Doe (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) caught a touchdown pass from
Ryan Harvey (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) late in the fourth quarter.

Avory Caruthers (SR, Barstow, Calif./Barstow HS) finished as the rushing leader for Augsburg with 60 yards on seven carries while Sheehan added 59 yards on six carries.
• Bokman notched both the first and second interceptions of his career, also adding five tackles, including one for loss.
Brandon Sjostrand (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) led Augsburg with seven tackles while
Rio Starr (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) had six.
Conner Elliott (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and
Shaquille Young (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Tartan HS) had one sack each for the Auggies.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The win was the fourth straight for Augsburg over Hamline in the battle for "The Hammer" traveling trophy. Augsburg has won 10 of the last 13 meetings between the two schools.
• Since "The Hammer" trophy game was established in 2005, Augsburg is now 14-4 in the teams' 18 meetings.
FOR THE FOES
• Hamline quarterback Alejandro Villanueva completed 15 of his 31 passes for 107 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
• Nicholas Vasko led the rushing attack for the Pipers with 77 yards on 10 carries.
