MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Augsburg University women's basketball team competed in its final game of the calendar year on Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Wisconsin-Stout 78-54 in nonconference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Blue Devils got off to a hot start in the game's opening frame, opening an 18-8 lead at the first break. The UW-Stout advantage continued to grow in the second quarter, culminating in a score of 39-15 at halftime. The second half proved to be far more balanced with each team scoring 39 points to complete the 78-54 Blue Devil victory.
• The Auggies were outshot 42.6% to 36.0% from the field, but were more efficient from beyond the arc with a 5-of-16 shooting performance (31.3%) compared to UW-Stout's 8-of-28 (28.6%).

Wakinyela Bear (SO, Morrison, Colo./Meskwaki HS) reached double figures in scoring for the third time this season, scoring 11 points with two steals, two blocks, a rebound, and an assist. Coming off the bench,
Melanie Delestrez (SO, Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS) had one of her strongest games as an Auggie with 10 points on 2-of-3 shooting while hitting six of her seven attempts at the free throw line.

Kalena Myers (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) finished with nine points and five rebounds while
Katie Manecke (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) and
Anja Smith (SR, Kewaskum, Wis./Saint Mary's Springs HS) scored six each, with Smith also leading the team with eight rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
• Amanda Giesen paced all players in the contest with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
• Raegan Sorensen notched a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double.
