WINONA, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's basketball team dropped a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest to Saint Mary's University on Wednesday evening, falling 75-67 at the Saint Mary's Fieldhouse in Winona.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Saint Mary's 75, Augsburg 67
LOCATION: Saint Mary's Fieldhouse, Winona, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 7-16 overall (5-13 MIAC), Saint Mary's 14-8 overall (10-7 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg controlled much of the first half, using a 10-0 run near its midpoint to open up a seven-point lead. The Cardinals managed to tie the game on two occasions, but Augsburg never relinquished the advantage as it led 38-34 at halftime.
• After five lead changes in the first ten minutes of the second half, the Cardinals regained the lead and began to create separation. Trailing by 14 with just 2:52 to play, cutting the deficit to eight proved to be all the Auggies could do as Saint Mary's hung on for the 75-67 win.
Conner Knoepfle (SR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) knocked down six of his 12 attempts from the field for a team-high 12 points while Bradley Winter (SR, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) and Colin Meade (JR, Rochester, Minn./Lourdes HS) scored 10 points each with five and eight rebounds, respectively.
Will Blascziek (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS), Caden Scales (JR, Richfield, Minn./Eastview HS), and Isaac Rabaey (SO, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) added eight points each for the Auggies.
• Efficiency from beyond the arc played a key role with Saint Mary's shooting 10-20 (50.0%) and Augsburg only hitting on six of 21 attempts (28.6%). Augsburg won the battle in the painted area by a margin of 38-32 and also held a 21-17 advantage in points off the bench.

FOR THE FOES

• Raheem Anthony was dominant for the Cardinals, recording a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double.

UP NEXT
• The Auggies will cross the river to face off with Hamline on Saturday, February 11 at 1 pm in Saint Paul.
