TUCSON, Ariz. – The Augsburg University baseball team wrapped up its spring trip to Tucson, Ariz. on Friday, falling 4-0 to Luther College at Kino Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Luther got the scoring started in the bottom of the first with a solo home run and an RBI double to take a 2-0 lead.
• Augsburg managed its first baserunner in the top of the fifth when
Adam Marshall (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) took a walk. The Auggies' first hit of the game came on a single by
Clint Mattson (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) in the top of the sixth inning.
• The Norse added two more in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-0 lead that would hold for the remainder of the game.
• The Auggies managed just six baserunners in the game, three on hits by Mattson,
Ty Gage (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), and
Carson Tomony (SR, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS), two on walks, and one on a hit-by-pitch.

Austin Lang (FY, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) made the start on the rubber for Augsburg, striking out one and allowing five hits and two earned runs in 3.0 innings.
Myer Schmitz (SO, Champlin, MInn./Champlin Park HS) pitched the next three innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.
Vinny Rupp (FY, Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline HS) pitched the final two innings, giving up two hits and recording two strikeouts.
FOR THE FOES
• Ryan Manternac pitched 8.0 innings for the Norse, striking out two and allowing just two hits.
