Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) scored all three Augsburg University goals for her third career hat trick, lifting her Auggies to a key 3-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ponce scored a pair of goals on penalty kicks in the 29th and 31st minutes, then scored her 12th goal of the season in the 76th minute, eluding a defender on several moves and drilling a low line drive from the top of the penalty box. The hat trick was the second for her this season and third of her career.
• The Auggies held control of the game throughout, claiming a 54-to-46-percent possession advantage and outshooting the Saints by an 18-9 margin, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on-goal. Ponce had five shots in the game, including four on-goal, to lead the Auggies.
• Seventeen Auggies saw game action in the victory, with
Amalia Lee (FY, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS),
Alanna Franklin (SR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) and
Abby Rosebur (JR, South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) getting two shots each.

Claire Smothers (FY, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) picked up her fourth shutout of the year in goal with a three-save effort.

Megan Hensel (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS), and fourth-year seniors Franklin,
Clara Fesemyer (SR, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS),
Samantha Meyer (SR, Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and
Annika Rudolph (SR, Richfield, Minn./Richfield HS).
