ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The Augsburg University volleyball team's season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion, falling in five sets to the College of Saint Benedict in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff quarterfinal match on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The No. 5 seed in the six-team MIAC playoffs, Augsburg rallied twice from close set losses to the No. 4-seed Bennies, each time dominating with set victories to force the deciding fifth set. The Auggies won the second set 25-8 and the fourth set 25-13. The fifth set was a tight thriller, with neither team leading by more than one point until the closing stages. The Auggies had match point at 14-13, but the Bennies ran off three straight points to win the match and advance to the MIAC playoff semifinals.

Bri Van Well (SR, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) finished her Auggie career with her seventh kill-dig double-double of the season, with 19 kills, 12 digs and two block assists.
Ava Carlson (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) also had a double-double, her sixth of the year, with 13 kills, 14 digs and two block assists, adding four service aces.

Torrie Rehder (SR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) recorded a career-high in digs with 32, reaching the 30-dig mark for the fourth time in her collegiate career.

Taylor Hoehns (JR, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS) had 10 kills, seven digs and four block assists,
Madison Gully (SR, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) recorded nine kills with five digs and a block assist, and
Elizabeth Oster (SO, Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) had eight kills and six block assists.

Angel Vo (SR, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) claimed her 15th assist-dig double-double with 25 assists and 15 digs, and
Jovial King (SO, Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS) had 23 assists and nine digs.
FOR THE FOES
• Kali Jones had 15 kills, 20 digs and two block assists to lead Saint Benedict.
• Audrey Spolidoro had 37 assists, six kills, 23 digs and two blocks (one solo).

• The match marked the close of the collegiate volleyball careers for six Augsburg seniors -- Van Well, Vo, Rehder, Gully,
