MINNEAPOLIS –
Emily Cronkhite (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored her 16th goal of the season in the third period, but her Augsburg University women's hockey team couldn't overcome a two-goal second period by Saint Mary's University, as the Auggies' season came to an end with a 2-1 loss in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Hockey Playoff semifinal game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies surrendered a pair of Saint Mary's goals in the second period -- the first time Augsburg had trailed in its last eight games, since a 3-1 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Jan. 30. The Auggies outshot the Cardinals by a 10-8 margin and had a power play with 2:05 left in regulation time, but could not gain the equalizer.
• Cronkhite scored the lone goal for the Auggies at the 9:27 mark of the third period, scoring in the slot on a rebound of an
Elizabeth Fagerlind (JR, Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) shot, with
Nora Stepan (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) getting the second assist.
• Augsburg outshot Saint Mary's by a 31-24 margin in the game. Making her final collegiate start in goal,
Chloe Stockinger (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 22 saves, finishing her season at 13-6-0 overall and her career at 34-19-4.

• The game marked the final contest of the collegiate careers of seven Auggies -- Stockinger,
Claire Jenkins Coffman (SR, Mount Pleasant, Wis./The Prairie School),
Dorothy Kearney (SR, Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS),
Sydney Rydel (SR, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS),
Malia Schubert (SR, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS),
Kennedy Stein (SR, Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest HS) and
Julianna Teske (SR, Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS).
• Augsburg was making its eighth straight appearance in the MIAC postseason playoffs and 12th conference tournament appearance in program history.
• Augsburg's 19 wins are tied for the third-most in a season (against only varsity competition) in the 29-year history of the program. Augsburg had 21 wins in both the 1999-2000 and 2019-20 seasons, and also had 19 wins in the 2016-17 campaign.
FOR THE FOES
• Allie Urlaub scored from Kennedy Kraus and Kas Kingston 47 seconds into the second period for Saint Mary's, and Jenna Kurkowski scored the eventual game-winning goal on an unassisted power-play tally at the 14:52 mark of the second frame.
• Celeste Rimstad had 30 saves in goal for Saint Mary's.
