TUCSON, Ariz. – The Augsburg University baseball team resumed play at the Tucson Invitational Games on Wednesday afternoon, splitting a pair of nine-inning games as they topped Crown College 18-7 and fell to Wesleyan University 19-1 at Kino Sports Complex.
THE BASICS

GAME ONE: AUGSBURG 18, CROWN 7
• Playing as the visiting team, the Auggies capitalized on their opportunity to strike first with a pair of runs in the top of the first.
Keegan O'Connor got Augsburg started with an RBI single that scored
Stanley Regguinti (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS), eventually coming around to score himself on a Polar error to make it 2-0 in favor of Augsburg.
• The two teams went back and forth for the remainder of the game, culminating in a 9-7 Auggie advantage through seven innings. The Auggies blew the game open in the following two innings, scoring three in the eighth and six in the ninth to complete the dominant victory.
• As a team, the Auggies outhit the Polars 21-10 in the game, their most hits in a single game since they had 22 against Wisconsin-Superior in March of 2015.
• O'Connor and Regguinti both had massive games at the plate, with O'Connor going 4-for-6 with a triple, a run scored, and four RBI and Regguinti finishing 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, and five runs scored.
Drew Jenkins (SO, Farmington, Minn./Randolph HS),
Andruw Vela (FY, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS),
Ty Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), and
Adam Marshall (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) each had multi-hit games for Augsburg.

Dylan Adams (JR, Windermere, Fla./Windermere Preparatory School) made the start on the mound for Augsburg, allowing five hits and four earned runs with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work. Replacing Adams in the third inning,
Owen Bernards (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) ultimately earned the win as he allowed just two hits and one run while striking out one batter in 2.1 innings on the Mound.
Sean Littmann (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) closed the game, pitching the final four innings and allowing three hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.
GAME TWO: WESLEYAN 19, AUGSBURG 1
• After playing to a scoreless tie through the first two innings of game two, the Cardinals scored four in the third and added another in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. An 11-run sixth inning put Wesleyan up 16-0, and the Cardinals would add three more in the top of the seventh.
• Augsburg's lone run of the afternoon came in the bottom of the ninth when
Davis Wick (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) batted in
Jake Skogrand (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) with a single.
• Augsburg starting pitcher
Caleb Tays (FY, Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS) was charged with the loss, allowing four hits and four earned runs with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work.
• Regguinti was the only Auggie with multiple hits in the game, finishing 2-for-3 to cap off a 6-for-8 day at the plate.
FOR THE FOES
• Cole Torino led the Cardinals with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, batting in three runs and scoring four himself.
• Ian Appleby pitched six scoreless innings for Wesleyan, allowing just four hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
