RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Augsburg University baseball team took on the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a neutral site doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, dropping both games to the Yellowjackets in nonconference play.

GAME ONE RECAP
• Offense proved to be hard to come by in game one for the Auggies as they managed just three hits while the Yellowjackets finished with 11.
• The Yellowjackets opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the fourth before adding three more runs in the fifth. They followed that up with one additional run in both the sixth and seventh innings to complete the 7-0 win.

Ty Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS),
Andruw Vela (FY, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS), and
Josh Udelhofen (JR, Janesville, Minn./Janesville Craig HS) finished with one hit each for the Auggies, with all three coming in the form of singles.

Myer Schmitz (JR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) started on the mound for Augsburg, being charged with the loss after giving up five earned runs and six hits with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched.
Kell Piggott (SO, Superior, Wis./Superior HS) pitched 2.1 innings of relief, allowing five hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work.
GAME TWO RECAP
• UW-Superior struck first again in game two with a single run in the second inning, but the score would remain at 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth when the Yellowjackets added two more runs.
• Trailing 3-0 in the top of the seventh,
Keegan O'Connor (JR, Roselle, Ill./James B. Conant HS) tallied his first hit in an Auggie uniform in a big way, launching a solo home run over the right field fence to put Augsburg on the board.
• The Yellowjackets went on to blow the game open with five runs in the bottom of the seventh before adding two more in the eighth.
• O'Connor finished with Augsburg's two lone hits in game two with a home run and a single.

Austin Lang (SO, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) was charged with the loss, allowing seven hits and three earned runs with seven strikeouts in 5.0 innings on the mound.
Jake Pittelkow (SO, Roseville, Minn./Simley HS) pitched 1.1 innings of relief, giving up three hits and four earned runs while recording two strikeouts. After 0.2 innings from
Manny Weiss (SO, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS) and 0.1 innings from
Ben Kittleson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest HS),
Caleb Tays (FY, Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS) made his Augsburg debut as he set down the final two batters via strikeout while holding the Yellowjackets hitless.
FOR THE FOES
• Yellowjacket pitcher Zach Romans pitched six shutout innings in game one, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out six batters.
• Second baseman Noah Dagostino finished the day a combined 5-for-8 at the plate with two RBI and four runs scored.
