Auggies end season with loss to Rams

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's lacrosse team ended its 2024 season with an 18-3 Midwest Lacrosse Conference loss to Cornell College on Saturday afternoon.

RECORDS: Augsburg 2-13 overall (0-5 MLC), Cornell 13-3 overall (3-2 MLC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Rams outshot Augsburg by a 46-13 margin in the game, including a 27-8 advantage in the first half as the visitors built a 14-2 lead. Cornell had 24 ground balls to the Auggies' 11 and 15 draw controls to the Auggies' eight. 
• Goalie Nicole Schuster (SO, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had a career-high 21 saves for the Auggies, adding a ground ball.
Alexa Hoffman (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) scored two goals with three ground balls, two draw controls and four caused turnovers to lead the Auggies.
Leila Klym (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) scored the other Auggie goal, with two caused turnovers, two draw controls and a ground ball.
Mackenzie Galazen (SR, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) had four draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Emma Meythaler (SR, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Kayla Courtney (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Roseville HS) had a ground ball and a caused turnover.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The game marked the final collegiate contest for five Auggie seniors -- Courtney, Galazen, Hoffman, Meythaler and Beatriz Sandoval Gomez (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS).

FOR THE FOES
• Cece Zanoni scored seven goals with an assist, a ground ball and draw control to lead Cornell.
• India Smith had six goals, five ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers
