6 Auggies earn CSC Academic All-District Women's At-Large honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Six Augsburg University student-athletes were named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
Women's hockey athlete and women's golfer Elizabeth Fagerlind (JR, Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) was named to the academic squad, along with women's hockey teammates Emily Cronkhite (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), Sydney Rydel (SR, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Kennedy Stein (SR, Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest HS), and women's lacrosse athletes Alexa Hoffman (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) and Jade Wilson (SO, Waukee, Iowa/Northwest HS).
 
Cronkhite and Hoffman repeated their Academic All-District selections from 2022-23. Cronkhite, Stein and Wilson will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members and announced on July 16.
 
Elizabeth FagerlindAn accounting/finance major with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average, Fagerlind earned the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Elite 22 Award in women's hockey, given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average among competing teams in MIAC playoffs in team sports. A defender in hockey, Fagerlind recorded a goal with 10 assists for 11 points in the 2023-24 season. She had a goal or assist in 11 of her 26 games and had a team-best plus-22 plus-minus rating, tied for fourth-best among MIAC players in overall statistics. In 78 career games over the last three seasons, Fagerlind has scored six goals with 18 assists for 24 points, with three power-play goals, two game-winning goals and a plus-16 career plus-minus rating.
 
In golf, Fagerlind finished the 2023-24 season with an 84.4 stroke average and .624 (244-147) win-loss percentage, the fourth-best single-season scoring average in school history. She scored in the 70s or 80s in 13 of her 14 rounds this season. In 39.5 rounds in her collegiate career, Fagerlind now has an 84.9 stroke average, the second-best career average in program history. She has earned Academic All-MIAC honors twice in both golf and hockey, has earned American Hockey Coaches Association/Krampade All-American Scholar honors twice, and was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar in 2021.
 
Sydney RydelA biopsychology major with a 3.85 GPA, Rydel became the fifth Augsburg women's hockey player in program history to earn the MIAC's Sheila Brown Award, given to an outstanding conference senior student-athlete by the league's women's hockey coaches. A center and team co-captain, Rydel finished her senior season with five goals and six assists for 11 points, ranking sixth among Auggies in goals and seventh in total points. She had a goal or assist in 10 of her 26 games, and ranked second among MIAC players in faceoff percentage (.608), winning 326 of her 608 faceoffs. She played in 86 career games for the Auggies, finishing her career with 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points, with a plus-four plus-minus rating, three power-play goals and four game-winning goals. Rydel earned Academic All-American honors three times, and was an AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar in 2023.
 
Emily CronkhiteA biology major with a 3.94 GPA, Cronkhite earned All-MIAC honors in hockey for the second straight year in 2023-24, and was also named to the All-MIAC Playoff Team in 2024. She tied for the team lead with 16 goals and 12 assists for a team-best 28 points in 2023-24, adding two power-play goals, three shorthanded goals and two game-winning goals, with a plus-13 plus-minus rating. She scored a goal or assist in 18 of her 26 games, with two multi-goal games and six multi-point games. Cronkhite was tied for third among MIAC players in overall goals, tied for 11th in overall assists and fourth in total points, and led the league in shorthanded goals. In her 78-game collegiate career, Cronkhite has 40 goals and 37 assists for 77 points, with five power-play goals, six shorthanded goals, eight game-winning goals and a plus-44 plus-minus rating. Cronkhite has earned Academic All-MIAC honors twice and AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar honors three times.
 
Kennedy SteinA biochemistry major with a 3.91 GPA, Stein earned All-MIAC honors in lacrosse for the second straight year in 2023-24, tied for the team's lead with 16 goals, to go along with nine assists for 25 points. She had three power-play goals and two shorthanded goals on the season, generating a plus-12 plus-minus rating. She had a goal or assist in 15 of her 26 games this season, with three multi-goal games and six multi-point games she had on the season. Stein finished the season tied for third among MIAC players in total goals and tied for seventh in total points. Playing in 87 games in her college career, Stein finished with 35 goals and 38 assists for 73 career points, with seven power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, four game-winning goals and a plus-38 plus-minus rating. She earned Academic All-MIAC and AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar honors three times each.
 
Alexa HoffmanAn exercise science (pre-health) major with a 3.66 GPA, Hoffman earned All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference second-team honors in 2024, after earning first-team honors in 2022. An attacker, Hoffman finished the 2024 campaign second on the team in scoring, with 32 goals and two assists for 34 points, adding 46 draw controls, 22 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Her 32 goals were ranked ninth among MLC players, with her 34 points 17th-best. She ranked sixth among league players in draw controls. Hoffman scored a goal in 14 of her 15 games this season, with eight multi-goal games and eight multi-point games. In 56 career games, Hoffman finished her career with 58 goals and six assists for 64 points, along with 77 ground balls, 77 draw controls and 42 caused turnovers. She earned Academic All-MLC honors three times and Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Squad honors in 2023.
 
Jade WilsonA biochemistry major with a 3.90 GPA, Wilson earned All-MLC first-team honors in lacrosse for the second straight year in 2024. She finished seventh among conference players with 36 goals, adding 13 assists for 49 points. Her 49 points were tied for eighth among league players, and her 13 assists were tied for 10th-most. Wilson finished third among MLC players with 72 draw controls, tied for eighth with 42 ground balls and 12th with 20 caused turnovers. She has scored at least one goal in every game of her 28-game collegiate career, with 10 multi-goal games this season and 11 multi-point games. In 28 games, Wilson now has 92 career goals and 15 assists for 107 points, with 111 ground balls, 167 draw controls and 55 caused turnovers. Wilson is also a two-time Academic All-MLC honoree.
 
The CSC Academic All-District team is part of the CSC Academic All-America program. The At-Large program covers student-athletes in 12 NCAA women's sports, including Augsburg sports golf, ice hockey and lacrosse.

Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. Select Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
