TOURNAMENT RESULTS
ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Shooting a school-record 236,
Avery Sawchuk (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) became the fifth Augsburg University women's golfer to ever earn All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors, finishing in a tie for 10th place at the MIAC Women's Golf Championships, held Saturday to Monday at the St. Cloud Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sawchuk broke her old 54-hole school record, set in 2022, by six strokes with a 236 (76-84-76) finish, tying for 10th place in the 48-golfer field to earn All-MIAC honors for the first time in her career. The top 10 finishers (plus ties) earn All-MIAC Championship honors, and also automatically earn the All-MIAC honor, which will be formally awarded in the spring. Her two rounds of 76 are tied for the fifth-best individual round scores in school history.
• As a team, Augsburg finished in eighth place in the 10-team tournament with a three-day total of 1,074, the second-best 54-hole team score in school history, behind the 1,071 shot in 2022.

Elizabeth Fagerlind (SR, Kasson, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) finished with a 259 total (85-88-86), finishing in a tie for 29th place. Her score was just two strokes off her career-best 257 54-hole score.

Maren Aikens (SR, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS) finished in 40th place with a 279 (94-92-93) total, and
Emma Larsen (SO, Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS) finished in 45th place with a 300 (101-103-96) score.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Sawchuk is the fifth Augsburg women's golfer in school history to earn All-MIAC honors. Stefani Zappa earned the honor in both 2009 (8th place) and 2010 (7th place); Johanna Frykmark earned the honor in 2007 (10th place); Andrea Sievert earned the honor in 1998 (9th place); and Emma Kraft was an All-MIAC Honorable Mention honoree in 2021-22 (12th place).
• Sawchuk's 82.89 career stroke average is currently the best in school history, with Fagerlind's 84.44 second-best.
• Sawchuk's 79.4 scoring average this season is the best in school history, with Fagerlind's 82.9 third-best.

• Augsburg will return to action in the spring half of the 2024-25 season.
