MINNEAPOLIS – Winning its sixth game in a row, the No. 8-ranked Augsburg University women's hockey team topped Hamline University 4-2 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg went 2-of-5 on the power play on Friday, extending its streak of games with at least one power-play goal to six. Augsburg is now 16-of-61 (.262) on power-play opportunities, fourth-best among MIAC teams.

Jenna Allen (FY, Minnetonka, Minn./Holy Family Catholic HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with a power-play goal at the 10:45 mark of the first period, scoring on a rebound off a shot from the point by
Nora Stepan (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), with
Aunna Schulte (FY, Bolingbrook, Ill./Plainfield East HS) getting the second assist.
• Schulte scored her fourth goal of the season 1:07 later, finishing a 2-on-1 break off a steal by
Kate Haug (JR, Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) with a backhand flip over the goalie's shoulder.
• The Auggies added another power-play goal at the 5:10 mark of the third period, as
Emma Abrahamson (SO, Carpentersville, Ill./Hampshire HS) scored on a rebound in the slot off a feed from
Grace Bonnell (SO, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS).
• After Hamline scored with an extra attacker to cut the lead to 3-2, Augsburg added an empty-net goal with 25 seconds left, as Stepan scored from
Emily Cronkhite (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS).
• Hamline outshot Augsburg by a 34-28 margin, but
Kayla Simonson (FY, Delano, Minn./Delano HS) stopped 32 shots to improve to 7-2-0 on the season.
• The Auggies also benefitted from 17 blocked shots in the game, tied for their second-most in a game this season. Stepan and Schulte had five blocked shots each.
• Augsburg entered the week ranked No. 8 in both the latest USCHO.com and D-III Hockey News Division III national polls, while Hamline was ranked No. 15 in the D-III Hockey News poll and was receiving votes in the USCHO.com poll.
FOR THE FOES
• Haley Eder-Zdechlik scored an unassisted goal in the first period for Hamline, while Abigail Chamernick scored with an extra attacker with 2:11 left in the third period.
• Kendra Nordick had 24 saves for the Pipers.
