ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Leaders in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball standings, Bethel University pulled away in the second half to claim an 80-52 win over visiting Augsburg University on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel led from start to finish in the contest, though the Auggies kept the game within reach in the first half, trailing just 38-30 at halftime. An 8-1 run to start the third quarter gave the Royals a 15-point advantage, a lead expanded to as many as 30 points down the stretch.
• Augsburg was led by Lani Fonoti (FY, Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS), who scored in double figures in her sixth straight game, with 15 points, to go along with three assists and three rebounds.
• Amira LaDuke (JR, Cass Lake, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena HS) scored in double figures for the 13th time this season, with a 10-point, seven -rebound performance.
• Maecee Alexander (SO, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) scored a season-best 11 points with four rebounds. Jada Stanford (FY, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had six rebounds to go along with four points..

FOR THE FOES
• Anna Garfield scored 18 points with four rebounds and three assists to lead Bethel.
• Elly Schmitz and Emily Erickson scored 17 points each.
