Jayla Ponce (SR, Kuna, Idaho/Kuna HS) and
Allison Hookom (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) scored goals for Augsburg University, as the Auggies scored a 2-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer victory at the College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies scored the opening goal of the game in the 21st minute, after
Kate Aman-Lavicky (JR, Madison, Wis./Madison West HS) was taken down in the 18-yard box on an Auggie attack, which included a shot by
McKenna Nachreiner (JR, Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee HS) that deflected off the crossbar. Ponce then converted her second penalty kick goal of the year and seventh of her career. The goal was her ninth of the season and 38th of her college career.
• Hookom scored her second goal of the season on a rising blast from the top of the 18-yard box, set up by nice upfield passes from
Danielle Wagner (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) and
Piper Jarombek (SO, Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS).
• Augsburg outshot Saint Benedict by a 20-13 margin in the game.

Claire Smothers (SO, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) gained her second shutout of the season for the Auggies, tying a season-high with six saves.
• Six Auggies played the full 90 minutes in the game -- Smothers, Wagner, Ponce,
Avery Rich (SR, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS),
Hannah Hatfield (SR, Rogers, Ark./Rogers HS) and
