Auggie season ends with loss at St. Kate's

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Allison Hookom (SR, Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS) scored a goal in the 61st minute for Augsburg University, but the Auggies couldn't get the equalizer, ending its season with a 2-1 semifinal loss at St. Catherine University in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• St. Catherine took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the ninth minute, and added a second goal in the 51st minute. The Wildcats outshot the Auggies by a 14-5 margin, and held a 53-to-47-percent advantage in possession.
• The Auggies scored in the 61st minute, as Hookom connected on a cross by Phoebe Alva Rosa (SR, Jackson, Wyo./Jackson Hole HS) that bounced just as Hookom struck the ball, sending it high over the St. Catherine goalkeeper and to the top of the net. Abby Rosebur (SR, South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) fed the ball to Alva Rosa off a throw-in.
• Hookom had two of Augsburg's five shots in the game.
• Claire Smothers (SO, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) had five saves in goal.

FOR THE FOES
• Bella Meier scored in the ninth minute on a shot from the center of the 18-yard box which deflected off an Auggie defender and spun to the low right corner of the net.
• Natalie Pfleger scored in the 51st minute on a rising shot to the top left corner of the goal, assisted by Maren Schoeberl.
