GAME RECAP
The game opened with Augsburg taking an early 2-0 lead with a layup by
Jada Stanford at 7:33, assisted by
Lani Fonoti. With 10 points and six rebounds, this marked Stanford's sixth double-figure scoring game of the season, and fifth in her last seven games. Augsburg briefly held the advantage, but turnovers impeded their momentum, allowing Hamline to gain control. Despite a 3-pointer by
Sydney Hazuga at 4:45, Augsburg trailed due to Hamline's efficient scoring and a series of fastbreak opportunities. Hazuga scored a team-high 19 points with three steals, her fifth double-figure scoring effort of the season and fourth in her last six games. The quarter concluded with Augsburg narrowing the deficit with a layup by
Melanie Delestrez in the final second, ending the quarter down 20-10.
Augsburg found themselves trailing early in the second quarter as Hamline extended their lead to 25–10 following a 3-pointer by Emma Lamppa at 9:43. Despite
Saylor Gallagher's efforts in the paint, scoring a layup at 8:33 and contributing defensively with several rebounds, Augsburg struggled to close the gap. Gallagher's 15-point, seven-rebound, three-assist performance marked her 11th double-figure scoring game of the season and sixth in her last seven games. Hazuga provided a brief spark with a successful 3-pointer assisted by Delestrez at 1:39, narrowing the deficit slightly. However, Hamline's consistent scoring, including a late 3-pointer by Lamppa and a fast-break layup by Josie Schmidt, widened the margin. Hamline dominated the second quarter, scoring 20 points to Augsburg's 9, and the quarter concluded with the Auggies trailing 40-19.
Augsburg showed resilience in the third quarter, highlighted by Gallagher's offensive contributions, including a three-point play at 7:55 and a subsequent three-pointer with 52 seconds remaining. Despite several turnovers, Augsburg managed to maintain pressure, with Delestrez adding a key layup and steal, helping Augsburg stay competitive. Hamline responded effectively, maintaining their lead with contributions from their bench, and the quarter concluded with the Pipers ahead 57–34.
Augsburg initiated a comeback effort in the fourth quarter with a quick surge, highlighted by
Tyliah Frazier's two free throws and a subsequent layup by Stanford at 8:50, reducing the deficit. Despite Augsburg's attempts to close the gap, the Pipers maintained control, countering with key points in the paint and converting on second-chance opportunities. Augsburg's efforts included a late three-pointer from Hazuga at 1:22, but they could not overcome the deficit. The game concluded with Hamline securing a victory, 75-55.
