THE BASICS
SCORE: Concordia-Moorhead 35, Augsburg 12
LOCATION: Jake Christiansen Stadium, Moorhead, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 2-5 overall (2-4 MIAC), Concordia 6-1 overall (5-1 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Augsburg's biggest first-quarter answer came with the Cobbers at the 1-yard line, where Foster Mulvehill forced a fumble and Jamir Horton recovered at the Auggies' 1 with 1:47 left to keep the game scoreless. Earlier, Derrick Sando recovered a muffed punt at the Auggies' 49, but the short field ended in another punt after two runs, an incompletion and a false start. The Auggies' best offensive stretch came on their next possession, when Caden Rodkewich found Carter Johnson for a 6-yard third-down conversion and Ben Davis for 8 yards before penalties and an incompletion stalled the drive. Concordia reached the Auggies' 10 in the final minute, but Kevin Toe and Mustafa Shaban combined on a 2-yard loss as the first quarter ended.

The Auggies were held scoreless in the second quarter as Concordia produced three touchdowns and finished the quarter ahead 21-0. Earlier, after the Cobbers scored on a 12-yard run at 14:55, Augsburg answered with its best offensive push of the quarter: Carter Johnson ran for 11 yards, and Rodkewich hit CJ Ritchie for 10 yards on third-and-11 before the drive ended on downs at the Concordia 48. The Auggies' defense had moments inside its own territory, including Isaiah Deloach's pass breakup at the 24 and RJ Chakolis' tackle for loss near the goal line, but Concordia-Moorhead converted a fourth-and-4 into an 18-yard touchdown pass and later added a 4-yard scoring run. The Auggies finished the quarter with one first down and 29 yards of offense, while Kevin Kargozar punted twice for 68 yards. Chakolis closed the final Cobbers possession with a sack.

The Auggies' defense opened the third quarter by keeping Concordia out of the end zone after a 15-play, 69-yard drive, with Ade Batz-Rogers breaking up a third-down pass, Mulvehill making a tackle for loss near the goal line and RJ Chakolis stopping a fourth-down rush at the Auggies' 1 with 5:38 left. Augsburg took over backed up at its own 1 but managed only four yards before a punt gave Concordia a short field. The Cobbers turned that field position into a 21-yard touchdown pass and extra point to make it 28-0 at 3:48. The Auggies answered with their best offensive stretch of the quarter, as Rodkewich completed a 29-yard pass to Iggie Cooper and Carter Johnson converted fourth-and-1 at the Concordia 44 before adding a 6-yard run to the Concordia 36 as the third quarter ended with Augsburg trailing 28-0.

Augsburg's biggest fourth-quarter sequence came after Chakolis intercepted a Concordia pass at the Auggies' 35 and returned it 8 yards with 5:49 left, and the offense turned that takeaway into Carter Johnson's 2-yard touchdown run at 4:12. It was Chakolis' first interception of the season. Earlier, Rodkewich connected with Cooper for a 21-yard touchdown at 14:49 after a pass interference penalty moved the Auggies to the Concordia 21, leaving the score at 28-6. The Cobbers answered with a touchdown drive to make it 35-6, and Augsburg's next possession reached midfield before three straight sacks forced Kevin Kargozar's 52-yard punt to the Concordia 14. On the late scoring drive, Rodkewich hit Ben Davis for 35 yards, Ritchie for 5 and Cooper for 13 before Johnson finished it, but the Auggies' conversion attempt failed.
