GAME RECAP
The first period commenced with both teams actively seeking to gain an early advantage. Augsburg, the No. 2-ranked team in both major Division III national polls, applied consistent pressure, with numerous attempts on goal, but were unable to capitalize due to accurate saves by Gustavus' goalie, Lily Timmons. Augsburg's Marissa Paaske equally stood firm in the net, denying the Gusties during multiple power plays. Despite several power play opportunities for Augsburg, including a late chance following a penalty on Gustavus's Eva Nelson, the period concluded without a goal from either side.

Augsburg maintained pressure throughout the second period, launching numerous shots on Gustavus' goal. Despite starting with a power play opportunity following a cross-checking penalty on Eva Nelson at 19:14, Augsburg's attempts, including shots from Nora Stepan and Livia Brehm, were either saved or went wide. The Gusties managed to fend off Augsburg's aggressive attacks, as Timmons made several key saves.

Augsburg maintained a strong defensive stance in the third period, consistently winning faceoffs and blocking shots. Despite several missed opportunities, the Auggies' offensive pressure was evident with consistent attempts on goal, including efforts from Kate Haug and Emma Abrahamson. Gustavus' goalie, Timmons, made numerous saves, keeping the game scoreless and forcing overtime.

The overtime period saw Augsburg under pressure as the Gusties controlled the momentum early with multiple shots on goal, all saved by Paaske. Augsburg made attempts to counter, including shots by Ruby Eskin and Haug, but failed to convert. An Auggie penalty resulted in a power play for Gustavus. This advantage culminated in a game-winning goal by Kylie Scott at the 5:09 mark, assisted by Lily Mortenson and Eva Nelson.

Despite the loss, Augsburg has a good chance to earn one of six at-large bids to the 13-team NCAA Division III national tournament. The Auggies will learn their NCAA tournament fate on Sunday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. (Central), via an online selection show on NCAA.com.
