CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Augsburg University softball team experienced a mix of results during their matchups on Tuesday at THE Spring Games. The Auggies secured a thrilling 17-12 victory in nine innings over the State University of New York-Morrisville before falling to Smith College 10-1 in six innings.

Augsburg's offensive effort against Morrisville was led by two home runs among their 19 hits, which significantly contributed to their win. The Auggies clinched the game in the ninth inning with a powerful offensive surge.
Lola Pilon delivered a three-run homer to right field, breaking the tie and giving Augsburg a 15–12 lead.
Aleia Johnston followed with a two-run homer to left center, extending the advantage to 17–12. Augsburg's defense then held the Mustangs scoreless in their half of the inning to secure the victory.
Zoe Adkins pitched 5 innings, allowing 9 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 6 batters and striking out 2.
Nikolina Opp came in relief for 4 innings, conceding just 1 earned run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and a hit batter, achieving a WHIP of 1.50 and earning a save. Opp demonstrated effectiveness in high-pressure situations, particularly with the bases loaded, allowing no runs in that scenario.
Despite Morrisville tying the game in the fifth and seventh innings, Augsburg's persistent scoring efforts, including key extra-base hits by Pilon and
Olivia Grefe, maintained the pressure. The decisive ninth inning performance ultimately sealed the road win for Augsburg.

SMITH RECAP
In its second matchup of the day against Smith, Augsburg struggled offensively, managing only two hits, including a triple.
Brooke Laier pitched a complete game for the Auggies, delivering 6 innings of work. Although Laier conceded 14 hits and 10 runs, she managed to strike out 2 batters and recorded a WHIP of 2.83.
Smith seized control in the sixth inning, breaking a 2-1 lead into a decisive advantage by capitalizing on two Auggies' errors, igniting an eight-run rally. Key hits included a two-RBI double by Sophie Hasegawa, which widened the gap significantly.
Kayla Shaffer made an impact with her bat, recording a triple and driving in a run, while
