MINNEAPOLIS -- Three Augsburg University women's basketball players --
Wakinyela Bear (SR, Morrison, Colo./Meskawki HS),
Saylor Gallagher (JR, Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) and
Sydney Hazuga (JR, Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial HS) -- were named to the Academic All-District Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), it was announced on Tuesday.
Bear, an exercise science major with a 3.63 grade-point average, earned the CSC academic honor for the second time in her career, after earning the award in her sophomore season. Bear is also a two-time Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honoree. The award is the first for Gallagher, a management major with a 3.71 GPA, and for Hazuga, a sports management major with a 3.85 GPA. Gallagher earned Academic All-MIAC honors last season.

Starting 18 of her 22 games played this season as a guard, Bear led the Auggies with a 9.6 points per-game average, also averaging 3.5 rebounds in 29.0 minutes played per-game. She hit 26 three-pointers, and added 48 assists and 22 steals this season. She scored in double figures in 11 of her 22 games this season. Playing in 91 games (54 starts) in her four seasons as an Auggie (24.3 minutes per-game), she scored 591 points (6.5 per-game) with 284 rebounds (3.1 per-game), hitting 93 three-pointers with 129 assists and 87 steals. Her 93 three-pointers are 10th-most in school history.

A shooting guard starting all 25 games this season, Gallagher averaged 9.0 points and 4.4 rebounds, playing a team-best 30.6 minutes played per-game. She hit 34 three-pointers and collected 44 assists and 41 steals this season, scoring in double figures in 11 of her 25 games. Playing in 73 games (48 starts, 22.7 minutes per-game) in her three Auggie seasons, she has scored 388 points (5.3 per-game) with 267 rebounds (3.7 per-game), hitting 57 three-pointers and collecting 96 assists and 78 steals.

A transfer who played her first two seasons at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Hazuga was primarily the first player off the bench for the Auggies this season, contributing a key spark as a shooting guard. In 24 games (four starts), Hazuga finished second on the team in scoring, averaging 9.2 points (221 points) with 58 rebounds (2.4 per-game) in 22.8 minutes played per-contest. She added 15 assists and 32 steals, and connected on a team-best 48 three-pointers. She scored in double figures in nine of her 24 games played this season.

Mallie Doucette, Augsburg finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 5-10 overall record, 2-16 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
The CSC Academic All-District team is part of the
CSC Academic All-America program. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.50 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the Division III Academic All-America teams program.
